Sudip Giri, A shy romantic guy
with whom we talked many things
is a super celebrity these days.
It was a kind of normal
conversation but we did figure
out his way of conduct. He loves
driving and he does hate people
who lies and betrays. Most of
all he hates people who betrays
in love. He is a love genie guy
and he wants to be in a very
true relationship for his future
dwellings.
We met him in the Green
Production, talked for a while
and went for a drive out of the
Kathmandu Valley. We were
driving and we were talking on
different topics. Finally we
decided to drive towards
Bhaktapur for some Juju dhau
(Famous Curd in a mud bowl). Our
Toyota was climbing in the
upward inclined classical path
of Bhaktapur. We then met up
this guy whose name was Albert.
We talked for a while, “new
relationship was working great”,
and we parked our car and moved
into his room to see some of the
sample music videos that he had
been working into. It was
raining cats and dog so we
headed for a good restaurant.
Finally we found one “forgot the
name though”, and we ordered our
Juju dhau. We ate it, “after a
couple of hours we knew that it
was not the original product”,
we were suffering from stomach
aches.
After about 2 hours the wind
blew those black clouds out from
the valley and the sun was
already shining clean and
bright. All of us were excited
with the performance of the
nature. We were then ready for a
photo session of this super guy.
We unpacked our photographic
gears and at the same time Sudip
was dressing with his finest
clothing. Me together with
Subarna Kiran (from Hong Kong)
started clicking our Nikon DSLR
and Sony F717. It was superb
working with him. He was
fantastic and his voice was a
piece of music.
Intro
Sudip Giri stormed into the
Nepali music scene with a
thunderous bang with his debut
album 'Canvas'. Now, the Music
Industry of Nepal can't stop
praising the song "San Nani Ko"
from his second album 'Frenz'.
It has succeeded to weave its
magic on a lot of fans, yet the
success has not gone to his
head. He is shy as ever:
Your
song "San Nani Ko" has turned
out to be a mega hit. Are there
any music-videos from the album
'Frenz', which is in the
pipeline? What are you working
on now?
The second music video of 'Frenz'
-- "Na Bijaune Phool" will be
ready within a month. This song
is a tragedy oriented song based
on melody. I have started
singing pop numbers though
initially I was able to make
myself heard with tragedy
numbers. With "Na Bijaune Phool",
I have tried to continue my
trend of singing tragedy numbers
and give my listeners the same
flavor! Now, you could
categorize me as a pop rock
singer.
Besides this, I'm thinking of
doing a solo. I have also
started working on my new album,
which I have entitled 'Katha'
and for which four songs have
already been completed.
In 'Frenz',
there is a fusion number added
as well. What is the response
like?
As far as the fusion number
is concerned it is just an
experiment. In Kathmandu, it is
"San Nani Ko", which is in
focus. The fusion track is
already out in Chitwan and the
response is amazing good. Now,
awaiting the response from other
parts of the country.
Have
you thought of getting into
films…as in being a playback
singer?
So far, I haven't given it a
thought about that. I like film
songs but I don't have any
intention to be a playback
singer. I think I am better off
as a pop rock singer.
You
have done a year of vocal
training and you compose and
write your own songs. It seems
music is derived by one's
instinct rather than training.
What do you say?
Once we study music, we learn
the rules as well. As far as
compositions are concerned,
whoever listens to music and has
knowledge of instruments they
can flow with the rhythm. Yet,
the compositions will come to
perfection if s/he has trainings
regarding music and last but not
the least instinct and knowledge
regarding music will just do
wonders.
If I am
not mistaken around 2002 (2059),
you were involved with a band
'Octave-C'. It is a different
thing that you guys didn't come
up with any album as such. What
happened? And when you finally
came with an album, you had gone
solo. Why is that?
'Octave-C' happened to me
when I was in my homeland --
Chitwan. Then we just used to
perform on stage and the fact
that back then we were not
mature enough. I did ask my
other band members to study
music so that we know perfectly
and exactly what we were doing.
Once we are done with that, I
told them that we can release an
album as well. On the other hand
my band members were more
concerned with their respective
professions. For them music was
just a hobby! Whereas, I knew
what I wanted and followed my
dreams! Later, I came to
Kathmandu, received a harmonium
and vocal training for a period
of one year. Now, I am where I
am.
You are
also a sportsperson we hear. You
have received a black belt 1 Dan
in Taekwando. What do you want
to say about this?
He..he (Shyish Laughs and
smiles)
Is
there any similarity between
sports and music?
Good question! Definitely,
there are some similarities as
both are related to passion,
patience, dedication and
determination.
Do you
have a girlfriend?
Alright
than…if you don't have one what
are the qualities that you would
look for in a girlfriend?
First of all, she has to be
honest, lovely and not
forgetting of course innocent. I
like someone who respects human
being without being judgmental
regarding caste and creed. She
has to at least make an effort
to do something good for the
society…a contribution of some
kind.
What
physical qualities do you like
to have in your girl friend’s
appearance?
I like my girlfriend to have
long hair and she has to have
the culinary talents.
How do
you define sex?
I don't know how to define
sex. It is always said that sex
is something very nice…
something heavenly ….never mind
on that…the bottom line is I
don't know about it.
How do
you appreciate Pokharacity.com
and its corporal websites?
Pokharacity.com is simply
superb; it has done lots as a
locality site. I do see lots of
energetic talents behind it with
bouncy outputs. |
